Cookie policy

The short version

This website sets one cookie, and only after you have made a choice about cookies. That cookie records the choice itself, so we do not ask you again on every page. We do not run analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the cookie settings link in the footer of any page, or the button at the end of this policy.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. It can be read back on later visits, which is what lets a site remember something about you. Related technologies such as local storage do a similar job using a different mechanism, and we treat them under the same rules here.

The cookie we set

There is exactly one, and it is strictly necessary in the sense that it exists purely to honour a choice you have made:

• Name — skillops_consent
• Purpose — records whether you accepted or rejected non-essential cookies, so the banner is not shown again
• Contains — your analytics and marketing choices, the date you made them, and a version number
• Duration — 180 days, after which we ask again
• Set by — Skillops (first party). It is not shared with anyone and contains nothing that identifies you.

If you reject non-essential cookies, this cookie is still set. It has to be, otherwise we would have no way to remember that you said no.

Analytics and marketing cookies

We do not currently use any. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel, no remarketing tag and no third-party tracker on this website. If you accept all cookies today, nothing additional is actually set, because there is nothing to set.

The controls exist because they are the honest way to handle what happens next. If we later add a measurement tool, it will only run for visitors who have opted in, and we will update this policy and reset the consent record so that everyone is asked again rather than being opted in by a change they never saw.

Local storage

This site does not use local storage to profile or track you. Your consent choice is held in the cookie described above rather than in local storage.

Earlier versions of this website saved enquiry form content into your browser's local storage under the key skillopsLeads. That behaviour has been removed. If you used the forms before this change, that data may still be sitting in your browser; clearing site data for this domain will remove it.

Fonts, media and third-party content

The typefaces used here are served from our own domain rather than from a third-party font service, so simply reading a page does not cause a request to another company. We do not embed third-party video players, social widgets, comment systems or chat tools, all of which commonly set their own cookies.

Server logs

Our host records standard technical request logs, including IP addresses, for security and reliability. That is server-side logging rather than a cookie, so it is not something a cookie banner can turn off. It is covered in our privacy policy.

Managing cookies in your browser

Beyond the controls on this site, every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies for individual sites or all sites, usually under privacy or site data settings. Blocking all cookies may break functionality on other websites, though this one will continue to work — you will simply be asked about cookies again on each visit.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page whenever the cookies we use change, and the date below records the current version. A material change — in particular, introducing any analytics or marketing cookie — will also reset the stored consent so you are asked afresh.
